Turn Your "I Can't" Into Trying- With These Tips!
"I can't" - How many times have you said those words out of negativity and low- self  esteem?

Have you heard the expression- "Whether you think you can or you cannot, you are right!"

It all starts with your thought process....and having a vision!

Think of what you want to achieve. Place pictures of this where you can see them daily. Tell yourself that you CAN achieve your goals!

Then write down what you would like to do as well.......... a goal, a job, learn a musical instrument, travel, be more social, and so on.

Then write down your fears and concerns as to what may be holding you back. Look at those and let go what you do not have control over.

Now, look at what you DO have control over. Think of specific steps to work toward what you would like to accomplish....and DO STEP ONE! Then write down when you believe you can have step two accomplished....and so on.

You have to envision it first, then write it down and plan out your steps in order to make something that you are working toward more attainable.

If you do not every try.................guess what? You will remain right where you are.

Envision it! Demonstrate positive self- talk! Take action steps! Repeat!

Be More Confident in Yourself! Sure Ways To Improve Your Self-Confidence Today!
I meet many people who lack self-confidence.

They are amazing individuals who are functioning in society!

They see themselves in ways that others around them do not see. They lack some self-love and self-worth at times. They especially lack being more confident in themselves.

Isaiah 41:10  fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Here are some helpful tips to help you to improve your self confidence:

Take pride in your appearance. Dress nicer than than you normally would.

Keep learning in life- whether it is a class of interest of just having an open and teachable mind and heart.

Be around people who are uplifting and supportive.

Groom yourself better than you ever have.... hair, teeth, skin, etc.

Choose a habit that you would like to change or replace with a healthier habit and work on implementing that change!

Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and courageous.  Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

Ask yourself..."What do I value?" Start living more intentionally with the value system that feels right to you no matter what others think of you! Be YOU authentically and be proud of it!

Do something for someone else even if it is to lend an ear.

Get outside! Get fresh air, sunshine, fresh air, and exercise! This will always make you feel better!

Step up your self- care. Take time for you! Get plenty of rest, eat right, have a support system, and do something for yourself daily even if it is only for a few minutes.

Demonstrate positive self-talk. Write down positive affirmations about yourself and read them out loud to yourself in the mirror daily and/ or re-write them daily! Practice positive self- talk daily to yourself when ever you are feeling inadequate. HOW YOU THINK WILL FACILITATE HOW YOU FEEL AND THEN HOW YOU ACT!

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Write down the things that you do not have control over and let them go.

List your strengths.

List you passions, dreams, and interests and move toward the direction with including these into your life.

Remember that when others do not see you your value- that it does not decrease your value!!

Philippians 1:6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Remember that if someone rejects you that it is not a reflection on you but often them and where they are in life with what they are and are not capable of.

Hold your head high and own who you are and what makes you- you. When you start to embrace yourself then others will follow and do the same. Remember that you will attract what you believe that you deserve.

Break down a goal into a short - term objective that is attainable and work toward it.

Deuteronomy 31:6  Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you.  He will not leave you or forsake you.”

Think positive and demonstrate positive talk, think positive and demonstrate positive self talk, think positive and demonstrate positive self-talk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember that you are a child of our Lord and your life matters and you are VALUABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isaiah 40:31  but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Free Trauma and PTSD Support Group This Morning at 10am!

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that is triggered by a terrifying event.

This can be from observing it or personally experiencing it.

The main symptoms are having flashbacks about the event(s), nightmares, having continued fear, and experiencing severe anxiety.

While it is normal to have a period of needing to heal after a trauma, it is when a person cannot heal after months of implementing coping skills, that they have PTSD.

PTSD symptoms can be divided into 4 categories. They are:

1. Mental Intrusive Memories
2. Avoidance
3. Negative changes in thought process and mood
4. Changes in how one reacts emotionally

Everyone who has experienced a traumatic event responds to the trauma differently.

How one heals is individualized as well.

Healing is possible with counseling and having a strong support system such as a support group.

I am a thriving survivor of PTSD and there is HOPE and HEALING!

I offer FREE monthly Support Groups for Trauma and PTSD.  The are offered every 2nd Saturday of each month at 10:00am- 11:15am for Adults of all ages.

1.  “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

2.  “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” Psalm 56:3

3.  “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

4.  “Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.” John 14:27

5.  “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7

6.  “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” 1 John 4:18

7.  “When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.” Psalm 94:19

8.  “But now, this is what the Lord says…Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.” Isaiah 43:1

What Would You Wish That You Would Have Done Differently - If You Were Near The End Of Your Life?
Imagine yourself near the end of your life here on earth.

Happy Best Friends Day! I Honor My Best Girlfreind! :)
I have never heard of it before but today was National Best Friend Day! I found out when my best girlfriend texted me this morning.

She has been what I refer to as my "earthing rock." She is the one that I can cry to, gripe to, whine to, and we could blackmail each other with what we know about each other!

She makes me laugh so hard that I could crack a rib.

She is the one who takes my hand at church and walks me up to the alter to pray for me and my family when we are going through a difficult time.

We can finish each others sentences.

We can be our true self with one another even though we are very different in ways.

She is the only person who could get by with feeding my children only ice cream for lunch while on vacation.

We sneak text messages to each other when  we really should not be texting- and some times... it is just to make the other laugh.

We "get" each other.

Because of her- I do not feel alone in a crisis or a bad day.

When one of us is in the middle of a stressful moment, we know that we can slip away to a restroom to text one another to ask the other one to pray .... and that is enough to make us feel better in an instant.

I made this friend while I was in my 40's. I met her at a new church I started to attend after my divorce ....in a small Bible study group.

So--- if you do not have a close friend like this type of friendship or..... you think that you are too old to make such a friend- think again!!

If you have a friend like this- tell them that you are thankful for them! If you do not-- pray for one and put yourself in places in which you can make such a friend!

My "Trishers" and I on a road trip to a women's retreat for our church. She paid my way and drove me there. She is a keeper and I am blessed!

Be thankful for anyone who has been a friend to you in your life and ....let them know!

Also.... Are you the type of friend that you want to be?

Thank you Trish! I LOVE YOU!

A First Counseling Session- What To Expect
Have you ever wondered about trying counseling?

If you have been to a counselor then you know what to expect. If not, let me help explain it a little.

At first, there are in-take papers that you would need to fill out and sign. This is to give the counselor your consent for counseling. Other papers needed might be personal information about yourself, how you plan to pay, and the reason(s) that had brought you to counseling.

For me, after the ‘business’ part of the intake, I would begin a counseling session with trying right away to build a positive rapport with my client.

I would do this by making some kind of small talk with my client. I would then try and make my client feel safe with me by the way that I approached them and with being warm and genuine when I spoke to them.

I explain to my clients that what they discuss with me is confidential except for a few exceptions. They are: if they were a minor, if they said that they wanted to harm themselves or someone else, any abuse or neglect of a minor, person with a disability or an elderly person is suspected, or if information was ordered by a judge.

If I didn’t already know, I would ask a new client what brought them in. Then I would ask some in-take questions to help me to be able to help them better.

Remember that talking to others when you are hurting can be very helpful!

If there is something that you do not understand at your first counseling session, ask your counselor questions about what is not clear to you.

A counselor can help you and provide you with coping skills so that you can help yourself better through difficult times.

Seeking mental health help is honorable and admirable.

Emotional First Aid- What You Can Do When You Start To Feel Low In Spirits

Emotional First Aid- What You Can Do When You Start To Feel Bad

Step outside or open a window.

Monitor your moods on a daily basis and rate ‘feeling bad’ on a scale from 1 to 10. Take notice when you feel worse than other times and process the reasons why. Make plans to change how you react to these mood patterns.

Do not allow yourself to go on an emotional downward spiral. When you start to feel bad, do not let it have snowball effect. Recognize it for what it is and do not let your thoughts take you further down. Tell yourself that you are having a difficult time but that it will not keep you down and that you will overcome it.

Implement a positive and / or productive distraction when you start to feel low in spirits.

Find meaning in loss or hard times. Learn from them and use them to help others and to grow stronger.

Demonstrate self- care. Get sunshine and fresh air. Brisk walk outside. Read scripture. Rest. Eat healthy. Drink water. Think of a peaceful place in your mind. Take slow deep breaths.

Talk to someone who cares and who you trust.

Re-visit in your mind--your passions and purpose in life.

Count your blessings.

Pray. God cares about every detail of your life.

Take a bath by candle light.

Listen to Christian / Worship music.

Journal about why / where you believe your sadness is coming from.

Remember that emotional pain is temporary.

Demonstrate positive self-talk about yourself and your situation.

Let go of what you do not have control over.

Forgive yourself and others.

Let go of guilt and shame.

Choose JOY!

Seek counseling and/ or a support group.
