A Bad Day Is Not a Bad Life
Everyone is going to have a bad day every so often.

Just because you have a bad day- remember that it is just a day. Your entire life is not horrible just because you have bad days.

When bad turn turn into more days, it is still not your entire life.

Utilize positive self-talk and tell yourself that things will get better. Try not to make mole hills into mountains.

In Your Own Mind- is Where Most of Your Battles Occur
Did you know that most of the battles that we come up against are in our own mind?

We know better most of the time- yet we do not act on what we know we need to do.

Knowing and doing are two different things.

What are you battling within yourself?

Why?

What can you do about it?

Chiropractic Care- The Many Benefits

Chiropractic is based on the idea that the relationship between the body’s structure (mainly that of the spine) and its function (as coordinated by the nervous system) affects our health.

Some benefits of Chiropractic are:
correcting alignment problems,
alleviating pain,
improving function,
and supporting the body's natural ability to heal itself (NCCIH.)

Regular Chiropractic adjustments can minimize your chances of getting ill.

Chiropractic can help your immune system be stronger.

Studies show that regardless of age, long-term chiropractic care can have a 200% increase in immune development and function. This in turn has the ability to help your body to resist disease (Pero, Campbell).

Chiropractic care is also wonderful for children. Reports indicate that Chiropractic care successfully treats children’s health issues such as acute earaches, upper respiratory infections, muscle pains, neck pains and accident traumas.

Spinal manipulation for children as young as newborn babies is an alternative treatment for the discomfort of colic as well as other digestive disorders (Clarke).

Moreover, Chiropractic care can also help with epilepsy. Studies have demonstrated that seizures were able to go from several seizures a day down to just a few a month (LifeSpring).

I am a firm believer in Chiropractic care and that the mind and body are interrelated regarding health.

I grew up with Chiropractic care. My father and brother are Chiropractors. My father is retired and my brother is a Chiropractor in Salem Virginia. Learn more about Chiropractic at my brother's website, Dr. Dan Davidson: http://www.backresort.com/

My brother Dan came through Nashville recently and only had time to meet up with me at a restaurant. I insisted on getting a Chiropractic treatment from him....so here is a picture of me getting an adjustment- at a Subway Diner. (Then I insisted on a selfie.)

I personally go regularly for Chiropractic adjustments to
Dr. Jacob Houston in Franklin,TN at Royal Oaks Chiropractic

Here is a picture of my favorite Chiropractor, my daddy:

Are You In Your Own Way?
You have goals.

You have passions.

You may have some healing and/or forgiving that needs to take place.

You have some things that you would like to work on in your life.

................And you are not doing anything to work toward these.

Ask yourself why?

Are You in YOUR own way and why?

What is it that is holding you back?

When you get out of your own way, you learn to be your authentic self.

You Can Still Re-Write Your Life Story
You may not be able to change the years that have past, but you can write your life story from the here and now.

You can choose to make your tests into testimonies, your messes into messages and being a victim to living a victorious life.

You can choose to not let a troubled past or present circumstance keep you from living an abundant life.

Turn the page in your life and start writing a new life for yourself!

You can also re-write your past in your mind of any negative situations have them turn out different. This can help you cope.

Start writing and LIVE BIG. Choose healing! Do not give power to negativity, hate, abuse, hopelessness, or to someone who hurt you.

Depression- Symptoms and Where To Get Help
  • Some Common Depression Symptoms:
  • Feelings of guilt, worthlessness, helplessness, or hopelessness

  • Loss of interest or pleasure in usual activities, including sex
  •
  • Difficulty concentrating and complaints of poor memory
  •
  • Insomnia or oversleeping
  •
  • Appetite changes, which may include weight gain or loss
  •
  • Fatigue, lack of energy
  •
  • Thoughts of suicide or death
  •
  • Slow speech; slow movements

*  In children and teens- they may include:

  Trouble with sleep

 Stomachache, dizziness

-  Social withdrawal, weight loss

-Drug abuse or alcohol abuse, a change in school   performance

 Difficulty concentrating

 Isolation from family and friends

There is a difference between just feeling sad or "depressed" and having a “clinical” depressive mental illness. If you have low spirits for a while, there may not be cause for alarm. However, if you feel like you cannot lift yourself out of your low spirits, and/or begin to notice other physical symptoms such as changes in sleep, appetite, or energy, you should seek professional help.

EMDR: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is type of psychotherapy

It can be very effective in treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). PTSD can occur after experiences such as military combat, physical assault, rape, or other traumatic events.

EMDR can also help with:

It does not rely on talk therapy or medications. Instead, EMDR uses a patient's own rapid, rhythmic eye movements.

These eye movements dampen the power of emotionally charged memories of past traumatic events.

Your therapist will engage in something such as moving their fingers back and forth in front of your face, have you look at a blinking light, listen to clicking sounds, or even listen to musical tones. While this is taking place, the therapist will have you recall a disturbing event.

This will include the emotions and body sensations that go along with it.

Gradually, the therapist will guide you to shift your thoughts to more pleasant ones.

The goal is that your disturbing memories will hopefully become less disabling.
