Choosing a JOY FILLED Attitude....My Birthday Celebration Thoughts
I turn 54 yesterday... just a couple days after my 4th granddaughter was born.

Two granddaughters helped me blow out my candles and two fit in my arms.

I know that not everyone has the privilege of having children and grandchildren. For those who desired this and it has not happened, I am so sorry.

It is good to have dreams and goals. And, I believe that God wants us to have the desires of our hearts.

However, sometimes our dreams and desires do not happen the way that we had hoped and planned.

When this happens, we then have to tweak  our dreams and goals. We should not give up on them but rather, we should alter them a bit.

I also believe that when we live a righteous life in Christ that He will give us far more blessings in our lives then we could have ever imagined.

They may just come in a different package then we imagined or in a different way. Most always, it will also come in a different timing than our own.

I have spent many years alone after planning and desiring to be married. My original plans did not work out but my life is still JOY FILLED.

I have experienced multiple traumas in my life but in the midst of my turmoil and experiencing abuse, I rededicated  my life to Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, got baptized and began to have a personal relationship with Him. Along with Christian counseling, He helped me heal from my pain and suffering and He can for you too.

The Bible says to consider it pure joy to have difficult times in our lives.

If you are going through a difficult time, use it to grow stronger with your faith and in other ways.

Do the best that you can with what you have with where you are. Give the rest to God and let it go.

Choose to have a joy filled attitude and remember that there is always hope and there is always something to be thankful for.

Look on the positive and sunny side of life!

Today, I rejoice an another healthy granddaughter and that next year, we will have a shared birthday part!

Reflections From a Now... Grandmother of 4! An Attitude of Gratitude!
I met my 4th granddaughter today.

She was born in the middle of the night a couple nights ago.

My heart is so full of love and gratitude of God's blessings.

God is so good all of the time! I feel blessed beyond measure.

This blessing is why I had to cancel the support group this week.

Blessings from God are plentiful. Sometimes they are not as clear to see such as a new healthy, beautiful baby- but there are blessings from Him daily.

Having an attitude of gratitude even during difficult times can help you through the day.

I want to encourage you to look for and try and notice blessings in your life.

There is always, always something to be thankful for!

Today, I am thankful to meet this precious gift from God. My cup runneth over.

You Never Know What Is Around The Bend- Hold On!
It may seem like your life is too hard. You may feel like you cannot go on. I have been there.

It is important to remember that emotional pain is temporary.

It is important to remember that it is wise not to make major decisions or choices based on emotions.

If you are having a difficult time in life, seek support, demonstrate some positive coping skills and hold on.

Things will get better. They may not get better in the time frame that you desire, but they will in time.

They may not get better in the exact way that you would like for them to, but they will get better.

Do what you can with what you have and let go of what you do not have control of.

Go to God with your desires and your pain. Tell him how you feel. He will listen. He will help you.

There is always hope.

Do not ever give up.

You do not know what is around the bend of the road in your life!

The best is yet to come!

I have been abused, homeless, hopeless, depressed, penniless, and more.

I continued to press on day after day and year after year. There were times in which I didn't think I could go on. But I kept on doing the best that I could.

It is never ever too late to turn your life around.

Whether you have made mistakes or something unfortunate happened to you--------- there is a better day coming! Hold on!

Seek Help. Seek Support. You are not alone.

Depression/ Trauma/ PTSD/ Grief Support Group- Tuesday, July 11th

This for adults of all ages, male and female.

Have Some Fun! It is Part of Self-Care! The ABC's of Hope and Health- F is For FUN!

The ABC's of Hope and Health

F is for FUN!

Life is busy. It can get overwhelming. It is easy to feel guilty when we try and do something for ourselves because we often have so much to do.

It is important to take time out for yourself away from all of your responsibilities to have some type of fun.

If you are a single parent to a small child and cannot leave them, then be creative to have some fun after they fall asleep.

Read something for fun. Watch a funny show. Start a new hobby of making something.

It doesn't have to be something like a trip that costs a lot of money or nothing!

Walk in a park. Take pictures of nature. Learn how to dance. Learn a new skill.

Treat yourself to some type of fun once in a while. It is part of self-care!

ABC's of Hope and Health- G is for Goals

What Are S.M.A.R.T. Goals?

S.M.A.R.T. goals are a relatively new idea. In 1981, George T. Doran, a consultant and former director of corporate planning for Washington Water Power Company, published a paper called, “There’s a S.M.A.R.T.

A Way to Write Management’s Goals and Objectives.” In the document, he introduces S.M.A.R.T. goals as a tool to create criteria to help improve the chances of succeeding in accomplishing a goal.

The acronym stands for:

S – Specific

When setting a goal, be specific about what you want to accomplish. Think about this as the mission statement for your goal. This isn’t a detailed list of how you’re going to meet a goal, but it should include an answer to the popular ‘w’ questions:

  • Who – Consider who needs to be involved to achieve the goal (this is especially important when you’re working on a group project).
  • What – Think about exactly what you are trying to accomplish and don’t be afraid to get very detailed.
  • When – You’ll get more specific about this question under the “time-bound” section of defining S.M.A.R.T. goals, but you should at least set a time frame.
  • Where – This question may not always apply, especially if you’re setting personal goals, but if there’s a location or relevant event, identify it here.
  • Which – Determine any related obstacles or requirements. This question can be beneficial in deciding if your goal is realistic. For example, if the goal is to open a baking business, but you’ve never baked anything before, that might be an issue. As a result, you may refine the specifics of the goal to be “Learn how to bake in order to open a baking business."
  • Why – What is the reason for the goal? When it comes to using this method for employees, the answer will likely be along the lines of company advancement or career development.

M – Measurable

What metrics are you going to use to determine if you meet the goal? This makes a goal more tangible because it provides a way to measure progress. If it’s a project that’s going to take a few months to complete, then set some milestones by considering specific tasks to accomplish.

A – Achievable

This focuses on how important a goal is to you and what you can do to make it attainable and may require developing new skills and changing attitudes. The goal is meant to inspire motivation, not discouragement. Think about how to accomplish the goal and if you have the tools/skills needed. If you don’t currently possess those tools/skills, consider what it would take to attain them.

R – Relevant

Relevance refers focusing on something that makes sense with the broader business goals. For example, if the goal is to launch a new product, it should be something that’s in alignment with the overall business objectives. Your team may be able to launch a new consumer product, but if your company is a B2B that is not expanding into the consumer market, then the goal wouldn’t be relevant.

T – Time-Bound

Anyone can set goals, but if it lacks realistic timing, chances are you’re not going to succeed. Providing a target date for deliverables is imperative. Ask specific questions about the goal deadline and what can be accomplished within that time period. If the goal will take three months to complete, it’s useful to define what should be achieved half-way through the process. Providing time constraints also creates a sense of urgency.
