Bless Others and You Will Be Blessed
When we bless others, we are the ones who usually get blessed more.

I know that I have reached out to help others over the years and then in various ways, I was blessed ten fold.

We do not do things for others to get something in return but that is what usually happens.

I just read a story where a man heard of a woman who needed a liver transplant or she was going to die within weeks. Without even meeting her, he made the decision to give her half of his liver to save her life.

They met and both had the procedures and a year and a half later- they were married!

The article and video is on my face book page.

Be a blessing to others!

Myths About Suicide
Here are some myths regarding suicide.

Myths:

Only certain people can be suicidal.

Only crazy and mentally unstable people commit suicide.

Only adults can get depressed and suicidal.

People who commit suicide are people who were not ever willing to seek or accept help.

If you talk about suicide to someone, it will give them the idea to take their life.

If a person attempts suicide once, they will not ever try to take their life again.

Someone who is suicidal and depressed always feel sad.

It is helpful to tell someone who is suicidal to "cheer up".

Suicide is mainly a problem for white and middle class individuals.

It is good to keep it a secret if someone tells you that they are suicidal.

People who talk about suicide will not ever really do it.

If someone is determined to kill themselves, then nothing will stop them from doing so.

Again, these are MYTHS about suicide.

If you or someone that you know is suicidal, seek help. There is always HOPE!

How Depression Differs From Sadness

How does depression differ from occasional sadness?

Everyone at one time or another feels low in spirits. However, these low spirits pass quickly and fairly easily.

Someone who has depression feels low in spirits for a longer time frame. Depression is when someone is low in spirits for at least 2 weeks straight or longer.

Someone who is depressed usually feels hopeless as well. They also tend to blame themselves for feeling so low.

Further, depression interferes with activities of daily living such as work or not being able to concentrate on tasks.

When someone is depressed, they have difficulty eating and/ or sleeping.

Other possible symptoms of depression include chronic pain, headaches or stomach aches. Some people may also feel angry or restless for long periods of time.

People who are depressed may also become overwhelmed and exhausted and stop participating in some of their everyday activities altogether.

They may withdraw from family and friends.

Individuals who are depressed may also have thoughts of death or suicide.

My Hope Remains- Even in the Storm

Hope is.............

that feeling that what is wanted can happen and/ or that events will turn out for the best,

a person or thing in which expectations are centered on,

to look forward to something with desire and with reasonable confidence,

an optimistic attitude of the mind based on an expectation of positive outcomes for one's life.

It can be difficult to have hope in our lives when we have been dealt a bad hand of cards.

Some of us have experienced abuse of every form, pain and suffering both mentally and physically, extreme financial hardship, traumas, illnesses, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, grief and loss, and more.

I have personally experienced all of these listed and I know that many of you have as well.

I know that it is difficult to have hope that things will get better when your life has been one hardship after another.

I know that it is especially hard to lose loved ones. You need to allow yourself to grieve.

I know that it seems like other people do not have it so bad. I know that this can make you feel bitter and confused as to why your life has to be so hard.

Everyone has hard times. Some people's struggles just are not as easy to see as others. Try not to compare yourself to others.

If you choose to give up on hope.... you are giving into the abuse, the trauma, the pain and suffering, etc. and you are choosing to give all of these things or people power over your life.

Choose instead to have hope for a better tomorrow. Choose to use what you have been through to make you a stronger person and to help others.

Choose to use your pain to motivate you to continue on and to always HAVE HOPE.

Maybe your life is not turning out as you had hoped or planned. If so, make a NEW dream. Make a new vision for your life and start pursuing it.

Grieve, allow yourself to feel anger, pain, etc. then learn how to let go of any negativity associated with these feelings.

Choose to refuse to live as a victim anymore.

Choose to forgive.

Choose to accept what is and to let go of what you do not have control over.

Choose to seek help and support in learning how to let go of strongholds that are holding you back from living an abundant life!

Surround Yourself With People Who Will Lift You Up
Sometimes we do not have much of a choice as to who and what kind of people we are surrounded by.... such as at work.

However, sometimes we do have a choice.

When you do have a choice- be around positive and up-lifting people!

And choose to always BE THE SUNSHINE in others lives without letting them tear you down....thus, by drawing healthy boundary lines.

We Become What We Love and ............

I LOVE this quote. Is it SO True!

What we love, we become because that is where our time and mental energy will follow.

Who we love helps to shape who and what we become because who we choose to love will either support and accept us or not.
