Don't Let Your Past Define Your Future
So many times, we go through difficult times and we attach ourselves to them going forward.

We feel ashamed or we feel broken.

We can feel this way whether we made a poor choice or we were a victim of abuse.

We choose to hold on to the pain, guilt, shame, and fear because it is often more comfortable then moving forward.

it feels safer in many ways. We don't have to feel so vulnerable to getting hurt again.

Yes, it can feel more comfortable to hold on to our past. One reason is because it became our "normal".

You can however, make a new and healthy "normal".

You do not have to let your past define and dictate your future.

You are not what happened to you. You are not your mistakes. You are not what someone imprinted in your thoughts that you are.

You do not have to live in the past or in emotional bondage.

You can choose healing. You can seek professional help and learn to work through the pain of your past.

Learn how to let go of unhealthy strongholds.

You can also have a new life in Christ. He can help you to be and feel peace again!

I want to encourage you today to seek help and to seek God.

There is always hope and healing! God loves you and you are not alone. He wants to help you make peace with your past.

You are Worthy!

A safe place to heal.

Exercise Your Sense of Humor!

One way to preventing stress is to find ways to reduce the stressors in your life and to counteract stress with activities that provide balance and peace of mind.
Try exercising your sense of humor. Taking yourself less seriously enables you to be able to laugh at your mistakes and to learn from them instead of stewing about them and letting them ruin your day.

Let go of what you do not have control of and give it to God.

Try to find something to laugh at when you can. Be silly now and then. Try and lighten up when possible! Laughter is the best medicine!

Identify and Manage Your Stress!

    Identify and manage your stress!

Can you pinpoint where your stress is coming from?

For example........ are you feeling irritable, out of control, angry at something, hurt over something, overwhelmed or fatigued?

Figure out what is causing your stress.

Work on determining if financial, family, social, work or other problems are the causes to be able to take steps to deal with it better.
Also, keep in mind that unhealthy ways to cope with stress will only add to your stress.

Focus on healthy responses to stress. Some choices are: exercising, eating a healthy diet, meditating, practicing yoga, pray, deep breathing, as well as talking with family and friends about what you are going through. It is also helpful to work on letting go what you do not have control over.
You can also seek help from a mental health professional. If you're unable to manage your stress with these self-care steps, get help from a counselor.

Sunshine Can Help Depression! Understanding Vitamin D!

Sunshine vitamin

Vitamin D is sometimes called the “sunshine vitamin” because it’s produced in your skin in response to sunlight.

It’s a fat-soluble vitamin in a family of compounds that includes vitamins D-1, D-2, and D-3.

Your body produces vitamin D naturally when it’s directly exposed to sunlight. You can also get it through some foods and supplements to ensure adequate levels of the vitamin in your blood.

Vitamin D has offers important functions. The most vital are regulating the absorption of calcium and phosphorus, and facilitating normal immune system function.

Getting a sufficient amount of vitamin D is important for normal growth and development of bones and teeth, as well as improved resistance against certain diseases.

If your body doesn’t get enough vitamin D, you’re at risk of developing bone abnormalities such as soft bones (osteomalacia) or fragile bones (osteoporosis).

Vitamin D can help fight disease and  depression as well!

Research has demonstrated that vitamin D may play a significant role in regulating moods and warding off depression. In one study, scientists found that people with depression who received vitamin D supplements noticed an improvement in their symptoms.

Get outside for your mental and physical health!

Don't Ever Give Up Hope!
I know that it can be difficult at times to have hope when life can be challenging.

Having hope can just be choosing to focus on the idea that things can and will get better in time.

You can choose to do the best that you can with where you are/ with what you have..............and let go of what you do not have control of.

Having hope is a mind set.

Choose to do what is in your power and to let go and not worry about things that are not in your control.

Be optimistic that things will be okay soon.

Choose to learn from difficult times if possible and to take times of adversity to grow as a person.

When I am going through a difficult time, I say to God, "Use me and grow me with this!"

Choose hope and peace of mind that when you give your life and circumstances over to God that they become His battles and He does not want you to worry!

Your life matters!

Feeling All Alone? Learn How To Cope
Do you ever feel like you are all alone?

You can feel like this even surrounded by others!

Do you ever feel like it is you against the world and that it is just an overwhelming feeling?

You are not alone in how you feel.

Just know that you can choose to control how these feelings affect you.

You can choose not to let them consume you.

You can choose to demonstrate healthy ways to feel better.

You can:

-reach out to others who are safe and caring
-reach out to a Pastor
-reach out to a counselor
-go to a support group
-attend a small group at a church
-look up community activities such as "Meet Up" to try and make new friends
-PRAY!

-demonstrate healthy self-care behaviors while you are working on reaching out to others

It is also helpful to journal and to get out in nature.

You can also choose to use this time alone to develop your passions and interests.

Redefine who you are, what makes you- you!

Choose to find things to enjoy in life instead of focusing on being alone.

Remember also that you are never truly alone because Christ is always with you. God loves you with an everlasting love.

Also, try and remember that you are not alone in feeling the way that you do. We were made to be in relationships with others and feeling lonely is natural and normal.

Just try to demonstrate positive and healthy coping skills and self-care while working on seeking new friendships in healthy ways as well.

You are Worthy!

A safe place to heal.
